EMERGENCY CAT RESCUE IN ARCADE!!!

PICS COMING SOON!

There is a man in Arcade named Tom who is losing his house to foreclosure and he has 25 cats he needs to find homes for ASAP. Our rescue has stepped up to help him while everyone else has told his no. It is going to be quite a task finding homes for all these kitties, but we're up for the challenge! And we need your help! In order to help Tom and the cats, we need places for these cats to go. Whether you can foster temporarily or long-term, or adopt, anything would help right now!

We will be going to his house on Sunday to access the situation and take some photos of the cats. I will post the pics and a complete list of the cats available once we have that information. So far we know that there are 15 who are fixed, tested and vaccinated (ages 5-17 years) and 10 who have never been to a vet (ages 8 months- 2 1/2 years).

There is one Siamese male, several long-haired black cats, two calicos, and several tabbies. He has described most of them as very affectionate and loving. If you are willing and able to help, PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP! The more commitments we get for fostering (or even adopting!) the more cats we can bring to safety this weekend. We have 30-60 days to place all these cats before the man loses his home. It could happen at any time though so PLEASE help!

I need your help. I have 25 cats that have to be re-homed in a forever home. About a year ago I lost my wife to cancer and the cats belonged to her. Since then I have fallen on very hard times. I am about to lose my home to foreclosure. The bank is coming soon and I have to move. I am not going to be able to take the cats with me. PLEASE HELP!! I am about to lose everything I own and it breaks my heart that I have to give up what I love so much. I cannot afford to feed or care for them. I have called every organization in Western New York and no one will help me. No one has room because of the recent SPCA issues in Cattaraugus, Niagara and Wyoming counties. I live in Arcade and am in desperate need of you to open your home and heart for one or two of my cats. PLEASE HELP TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!!!
I have 15 that are either spayed or neutered. They range in age from 18 years old to 5 years old. These 15 are in very good health and all have their shots.
The other 10, 4 of which are female and 6 are males, need to be fixed and need their shots. With the loss of my wife I just don't have the money to take care of them properly.
I can email you pics of a few if that helps. They are all litter trained and are great family cats. They just need a forever home and love. Thank you.

We are also going to need funds for the vetting of the 10 kitties who are not fixed, vaccinated or tested. It will cost approximately $100 per cat. That does not include any additional vetting for any medical conditions we discover.

If you can donate toward their vetting, please follow this link: http://havenhousecats.chipin.com/emergency-rescue-of-25-cats-in-arcade

Help Us Give Chance a chance!

UPDATE: It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you all that Chance did not make it. He was FIV positive and his infection was too severe. His prognosis was very poor and he was in a lot of pain. We made the choice to end his suffering, as all the money in the world would not have changed the outcome for this sweet boy. We want to thank everyone for the generous outpouring of donations and support for this wonderful guy. We thought we could give him a Chance at a better life, but we were only able to send him to the Rainbow Bridge in peace, knowing at least he was with someone who cared during his last moments. It's tearing at my heart as I write this to think we couldn't save him. Chance is very grateful for all of you out there who cared enough to think of him during his time of need. Thank you.

Regarding donations: We were able to cover Chance's vet bill today and his burial costs with the donations we've received. Any extra money will go toward the other cats in our care, so we can keep them healthy and find them loving homes. Every penny we receive goes to the cats!

Chance is a very sad case. He is very clearly a victim of HORRIBLE neglect. We rescued him from some people who posted on Craigslist, threatening to put him to sleep if no one came for him "by tomorrow". We were told in an email that he was a "little dirty and has a few sores but he's okay". Wow, were we surprised when we saw him. This is a cat that has been coming in and out of these people's home for TWO YEARS!!! He has a SEVERE infection that appears to originate from a bite wound he suffered an entire YEAR AGO, according to the owner. They never even took him to a vet to have it looked at. The bite wound on his side is oozing green puss and all the hair around it has fallen off. The surrounding fur was caked with dried puss. His left eye is extremely cloudy, inflamed and he may quite possibly be blind in that eye. There is no hair on his left ear and he appears to have a hematoma above his eye. He also has a bald spot on his hind leg, which also appears to be scratched up from a possible scuffle in the wild.

To put it bluntly, this cat looks like he went through a war.

It is utterly disgusting that any human being would allow a cat to live in this condition UNDER THEIR OWN ROOF! This is very plainly NEGLECT in its worst form. Poor Chance deserved better than this, and he may not have gotten the care he needed before but we will do all we can to give this sweet guy a chance at a better life now!

Help us give Chance a chance! Please donate; his vet bills are going to be quite high considering his condition. The amount of time and medical care that will be required to bring Chance back to health will be quite extensive. We need your help and so does Chance! Let's do what those horrible owners failed to do and help him! He is a very sweet guy, who actually purred while I cleaned him and looked over his wounds. Considering how much pain he must be in, it's quite remarkable how calm and affectionate he is being. Donate today, tell your friends, spread the word! Let's help this baby!
