Help Us Give Chance a chance!

UPDATE: It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you all that Chance did not make it. He was FIV positive and his infection was too severe. His prognosis was very poor and he was in a lot of pain. We made the choice to end his suffering, as all the money in the world would not have changed the outcome for this sweet boy. We want to thank everyone for the generous outpouring of donations and support for this wonderful guy. We thought we could give him a Chance at a better life, but we were only able to send him to the Rainbow Bridge in peace, knowing at least he was with someone who cared during his last moments. It's tearing at my heart as I write this to think we couldn't save him. Chance is very grateful for all of you out there who cared enough to think of him during his time of need. Thank you.

Regarding donations: We were able to cover Chance's vet bill today and his burial costs with the donations we've received. Any extra money will go toward the other cats in our care, so we can keep them healthy and find them loving homes. Every penny we receive goes to the cats!

Chance is a very sad case. He is very clearly a victim of HORRIBLE neglect. We rescued him from some people who posted on Craigslist, threatening to put him to sleep if no one came for him "by tomorrow". We were told in an email that he was a "little dirty and has a few sores but he's okay". Wow, were we surprised when we saw him. This is a cat that has been coming in and out of these people's home for TWO YEARS!!! He has a SEVERE infection that appears to originate from a bite wound he suffered an entire YEAR AGO, according to the owner. They never even took him to a vet to have it looked at. The bite wound on his side is oozing green puss and all the hair around it has fallen off. The surrounding fur was caked with dried puss. His left eye is extremely cloudy, inflamed and he may quite possibly be blind in that eye. There is no hair on his left ear and he appears to have a hematoma above his eye. He also has a bald spot on his hind leg, which also appears to be scratched up from a possible scuffle in the wild.

To put it bluntly, this cat looks like he went through a war.

It is utterly disgusting that any human being would allow a cat to live in this condition UNDER THEIR OWN ROOF! This is very plainly NEGLECT in its worst form. Poor Chance deserved better than this, and he may not have gotten the care he needed before but we will do all we can to give this sweet guy a chance at a better life now!

Help us give Chance a chance! Please donate; his vet bills are going to be quite high considering his condition. The amount of time and medical care that will be required to bring Chance back to health will be quite extensive. We need your help and so does Chance! Let's do what those horrible owners failed to do and help him! He is a very sweet guy, who actually purred while I cleaned him and looked over his wounds. Considering how much pain he must be in, it's quite remarkable how calm and affectionate he is being. Donate today, tell your friends, spread the word! Let's help this baby!
